Hi! I’m Haley. But you probably knew that already (if you visited my home page or instagram on your way here). Bandit is my rescue pup, and as of writing this he is probably around 8-years-old (no way to know for sure). Lil Blue is the tacoma I saved up to buy in 2019, as my ideal adventure vehicle. This blog is where I keep track of our adventures.

How did this start: I’ve been told I live an exciting life. (Favorite story on that: met an irish woman in the airport, who, after I told her of the recent travels I was returning from asked me: and you actually enjoyed that?) I also spent 4 years studying creative writing in college. So I figured, why not put them together? From this Haloskiwi was born.

What to expect: stories of my favorite shenanigans in the mountains, on the river, and around the world.

Where am I: living in my favorite corner of the world, Northwest Montana.

Where do my adventures take place: usually in Montana, but I’ve been known to branch out. Often times, I won’t post the exact location of my exploits, in order to preserve some of the more cherished & remote locations I enjoy, but if you look closely enough, you can probably piece it together.

How did I get into my more extreme hobbies: My dad had me on skis by the time I was 2, hiking near cliff edges (with supervision) by 3, and white water as early as 4. Basically, I was born into it.

Where did I come up with the name HaloSkiwi: #1 My childhood nickname was Halo. #2 I love to ski more than any other outdoor activity. #3 I lived in New Zealand and fell in love with the Kiwi culture, plus I thought Skiwi sounded super cute.
