A Life of Adventure

Welcome! Want to know a little more about me and the HaloSkiwi blog? This is probably the post for you (or head on over to my about us page).

Background:

My life has always been an adventure. My parents met in the rugged landscape of Colorado where my father spent his 20’s exploring peaks, rivers, and ski lines. By the time I was 2, my family had moved to Montana, home to big skies, and even bigger wilderness. Growing up, my mom would say to my dad “come back with all 3 kids, or don’t come back at all,” when he would take us on weekend adventures on the rivers, trails, and lakes. Pretty loose rules to live by if you ask me.

Peak me on the oars around age 7 with my older brother Tyler & younger sister Kylie. And for those of you who have been on my raft recently, yes those are the exact same oars I use today.

I grew up watching the Banff film festival and Warren Miller movies every year, inspiring me to be like the badasses I saw on the screen (though obviously I wasn’t allowed to call them that until much later on). For college I ventured down to Denver to see if the city life was for me, while still staying close to my beloved mountain landscapes. It wasn’t, and I still distinctly remember crying the first time I came over the hill on i-70 to a sea of red tail lights instead of the open Montana highways I was accustomed to.

Hanging out on Mendenhall Glacier for work at Alaska Shore Tours. Can’t express how grateful I have been for this company & the opportunities for adventure it has given me over the years.

After college I moved back to Whitefish, Montana, where my family had had a lakehouse since I was 10-years-old. I spent several years living the ski bum life with several jobs that barely covered a single bill (thought living back at my parents house, rent thankfully wasn’t an issue). Finally, I fell into a career in marketing about 3 years ago, and haven’t looked back ever since! This remote position has given me the opportunity to do something fulfilling, in the travel industry I love, while remaining in my favorite place on earth.

More importantly than work though, over the past several years I have had the opportunity to really dive into my outdoor hobbies, and I adopted my best friend in the world, Bandit, from the Northwest Montana Humane Society. From river trips, to hiking, to skiing down with him in a backpack, he’s easily my favorite adventure buddy.

Bandit wading through a crisp Montana stream, looking about as skeptical as he always does around moving water. This boy is 100% a land lover.

So follow along to learn more about the adventures we take, and sign up for our email list so you can stay in the loop with all that we get up to!

What to Expect:
  • Adventures: In no chronological order, I will recount some of my favorite stories I’ve accumulated over the years and my current excursions. See the image gallery below for a few highlights that will soon appear as blog posts!
  • How-To’s: While I have no certifications to go buy, I will give you my tips on how I organize my crazy life, what to bring on various adventures, & how to get into the sports I love.
  • Recipes: When I finally take the time to sit still in my home, I love coming up with new recipes & baked goods! As someone with quite a lot of food allergies, I have to get creative and can hopefully help others with food restrictions as well.

That’s all for now folks! Want to learn more? Shoot me a message through my contact page, or find me on instagram.

Enjoy Your Adventures!

Cheers,

The HaloSkiwi Crew
